We’re excited to announce a new release of the Arctic Data Center’s software platform (Metacat UI 2.37.0), with powerful new ways to explore datasets and create richer data portal experiences. This release presents improvements to dataset version history, interactive mapping capabilities, and overall usability.

Embedded Interactive Visualizations in Portal Maps

Data portals are more valuable when they help people actively explore information in addition to locating datasets of interest. This release expands the capabilities of Cesium-powered portals by allowing administrators to connect trusted web-based visualization tools directly to map content.

Rather than sending visitors to a separate page, interactive applications can now open within the portal itself, creating a more seamless exploration experience. Whether highlighting environmental observations, scientific models, virtual tours, or other specialized visualizations, portal creators have more flexibility in presenting their data.

The featured locations interface has also been refreshed with a more visual design and greater support for custom actions, making it easier for users to discover and launch additional content from the map.

Other Improvements

The software release also includes additional usability improvements and bug fixes, including making the Arctic Data Center footer and navigation bar consistent across every webpage.
