Climate Change Impacts and Adaptation Plan for Nunavut

In 2003, the Government of Nunavut established the Nunavut Climate Change Strategy to help shape the principles and direction of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and address climate impacts in the territory. Concerted action began in 2007 and continued with the Pan-Territorial Adaptation Strategy in 2011, to find collaborative priorities and efforts for adaptation across Canada's Arctic Region. In 2011, in collaboration with various key stakeholders, the Climate Change Secretariat developed Upagiaqtavut: Setting the Course is the strategic framework and interdepartmental action plan for Nunavut residents and communities. The plan supports investments and adaptation activities that address the impacts of climate change on communities as well as mitigation strategies.
