Show Local and Serious Climate Change Impacts

When working on documenting climate change, show it as you can see it in your community. Also, show an incident that was serious. Something that impacted people's lives.

To illustrate this, we are going to look at a non-Arctic example for a moment. Seasonal river flooding is not only becoming an issue in Arctic locations, but worldwide. Take a look at the images below from Passau, Germany. The city is located at the confluence of three major rivers, and in 2013, experienced the worst flooding in its history, a so-called 500-year flood.

The image below was taken a week after the waters subsided, at City Hall. You can see on the image how high the floor waters were, compared to normal and compared to other, less serious floods. The image documents the extent, regularity and seriousness of the floods, especially the most recent one.

Where in your community can you see the local and serious impacts of climate change?

Think about these and ask others around you.
