Different Types of Photography

In this first lesson we explore the type of photography you might use to tell a story about climate change.

There are many types, or genres of photography spanning many subjects.  For example, you can be an Editorial (genre) photographer with expertise in photographing Food (subject).  You can be a Conceptual Fine Art (genre) photographer with a focus on racism or womens' issues (subjects).

In this lesson you will:

  • Learn the differences between Editorial, Documentary and Photojournalism
  • Reduce your fears about shooting a "Good" documentary image
  • Begin identifying climate change concepts you find interesting
