Our People, Our Climate
This course is designed as an introduction for working aged youth and adult learners to increase the awareness of climate change in Nunavut. Our People, Our Climate introduces you, the learner, to the history of energy use, from the traditional qulliq to current research and projects underway in Nunavut using renewables to shift away from fossil fuels.
The implications of the greenhouse effect on our local energy use, behaviours and decision-making will be covered, as well as the impacts on our land, adaptation and other effects.
As a learner, you will have an opportunity to research and reflect on the issue of climate change in your own community, and identify areas of personal or business interest, or connections to possible employment opportunities with territorial stakeholders, to mitigate and contribute to political, economic and social action.
This course is 70 hours in duration and available online only.
Access to a personal computer and Internet connectivity is required.
This course is currently undergoing accreditation review by the Indigenous Certification Board of Canada (ICBOC) for 6 professional development credits.
